Title:

An introduction to SAGE

Abstract: SAGE (Software for Algebra and Geometry Exploration, sage.scipy.org) is a newish CAS similar in many ways to Mathematica, MAPLE and Magma. However, SAGE is free and open source. I will briefly survey what SAGE can do researchwise and then discuss ways SAGE can be used in teaching (mostly SM212 but with some calculus examples). Suggestions for other examples are welcomed.

Time: 3:45pm, Wednesday Sep 13, 2006

Reception at 3:30.
