The Rubik's cube contest results

The USNA Mathematics Department held its first Rubik's cube contest since 1982 on March 11, 1997 during its annual "Math Open House" night. As in 1982, the contest was composed of three rounds and we took the average of the two fastest times. Only midshipmen were eligible for the prizes but the contest was open to anyone. The top three finalists received a certificate the first place winner also receieved a puzzle for a prize. The event was organized by Assoc. Prof. D. Joyner, with the help of Prof. H. Penn (who was second fastest), and was a popular attraction that night.

All the names below are midshipmen except for H. Penn.
